Skerries and Malahide

Second day in Ireland!!

Today our trip has started at Balbriggan's train station. We caught the train at quarter to ten and just five minutes later, we arrived to Skerries. It is a beautiful shore village which was St Patrick's first settlement in Ireland.

We went to the beach and, while we were searching for shells, we saw a seal!! It was far from the coast, and at the begining we thought it was a shark, because we only could see something grey in the water.

Later, we visited the giant windmills from the 16th century. Two of the Skerries' Mills were used for grinding corn.

At half past one, we have gone to the station again to go to Malahide Castle.

Malahide Castle is a magnificent castle set on 250 acres of parkland and dated in the 12th century. The castle is surrounded by big gardens with more than 5000 species.

At half past four we came back to Balbriggan and we have spent a few minutes there before meeting our families again.

Today has been a great day and we have walked 10 km!

  1. I still can't watch the video, what a pity, I`m sure it's a good way to get an idea of your day. Maybe tomorrow...
    Pictures show a great day!
Incredible the seal, you're lucky people. The only seal I've seen was a circus one.
Really beautiful the mills and the castle.

Another rainy day in Zaragoza and also a bit cold. Spring came!!
